Editorial policy

Last updated Oct 2, 2026

This page sets out the standards every post on Idle & Awake Blog must meet. If a post falls short of them, we treat it as an error and fix it.

1. Sources

  • Every post cites at least two sources, listed at the end under Sources.
  • We prefer primary sources: laws and regulations, government and central-bank statistics, standards bodies, peer-reviewed studies, manufacturers’ documentation and official guidance.
  • Every number, date and rule must come from a listed source. When we calculate a value ourselves — a worked example, a converted unit, a time difference — we say what we calculated it from.

2. Dated facts

Some answers depend on things that change: prices, fees, schedules, laws. Those posts show a Facts checked date, and we recheck older posts on a regular schedule. If a rule changes, we update the post and its Updated date.

3. What we won’t claim

  • No advice. Business posts explain how things work — the economy, markets, interest, fees, taxes — never what to buy, sell or invest in, and never where prices are heading. We don’t give legal or medical advice.
  • No health claims. We don’t cover medical treatment, diets or supplements.
  • No guarantees of savings, income or results.
  • No politics, religion or breaking news.

4. How AI is used

We use AI tools to help find sources and draft posts. Every draft then goes through automated checks against this policy (sources, structure, banned phrases, length and duplication) and a separate review pass that compares the numbers in the draft with the sources; drafts that fail are rewritten or dropped, never published as-is. The team reviews published posts regularly and corrects anything that falls short. Each post carries a short note saying it was drafted with AI assistance.

5. Structure

Posts follow a predictable shape so you can find the answer fast: Key takeaways, a Quick answer, the explanation with tables or graphics where numbers are involved, Common mistakes when they matter, a few Questions people ask, and Sources.

6. Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the post’s “Updated” date. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the post. Report an error at pp.idleawake@gmail.com.

7. Advertising and affiliates

Ads are placed automatically by Google AdSense and are clearly labeled. From the shelf links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag; we only list things that fit the topic. See the affiliate disclosure.
